David Bronner, the president of Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps, decided to make a Hemp protest in Lafayette Park across the street form the White House and locked himself up in  a steel cage with a dozen of hemp plants. The protest had last for over 3 hours, during which park police tried to cut him out of the cage using metal clippers, which actually didn't work and they had to wait till the firemen truck arrived with a chainsaw...

Bronner, the president of the Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps, a top-selling natural soap chain based in Escondido CA, said that he spends over $100.000 a year importing hemp oil from Canadian farmers , but he would rather support the U.S. farmers!

Loudly, he announced into a microphone hooked up to his cage: " Obama has promised a rational approach to policies, but so far as president he has blown off the U.S. hemp industry."

All the cannabis plants, that were inside of the cage with Bronner, contained less then 0.3 THC and had no potential use as a drug. Also Dr. Bronner made a show inside of his cage by using an oil press to make fresh hempseed oil, and gave it out to the publish as samplers.

His protest came right after Sen. Ron Wyden introduced an amendment to the farm bill last week that would allow farmers to grow industrial hemp.
